The Writers Project of Ghana has scheduled the award-winning Ghanaian writer, Nii Ayikwei Parkes, as author for the month of August for its monthly book reading series, the Ghana Voices Series.
The reading, which takes place on Wednesday, 28 August 2013, at the premises of the Goethe Institute from 7 – 8PM, will witness Parkes read from his latest writings. Information we have suggests that the author is working on poetry as well as some stories.
On Sunday, 25 August, Mr Parkes read from the story “The City Will Love You” when he appeared on Writers Project on Citi FM, a radio literary weekly in Ghana. If that is anything to go by, the book reading at the Goethe Institute should follow a similar pattern in terms of choice. For those hoping to hear Parkes read from his seminal and most celebrated work, Tail of a Blue Bird, yet that could still be possible.
The Ghana Voices Series is a monthly reading for published Ghanaian authors (mainly – it occasionally features writers of other nationalities) organised by the Writers Project of Ghana, together with the Goethe Institut Accra. Admittance to the reading is FREE
