Three Events: Launch of “A Heart’s Quest”; Writer Erections; ALEWA

The literary scene in Ghana this July has been more than electrifying in many ways. With its paling shadow disappearing rapidly, let us usher in August with the announcement of two events: the launch of a poetry collection, and an evening of poetry performance.

To start with, sitting on the edge between July and August, poet Elikplim Akorli launches a collection of his poetry, A Heart’s Quest, on Wednesday, 31 July 2013 at the British Council, opposite Cedi House. The launch will start at 5.30PM and it is open to the public.

A Heart’s Quest is a publication of 51 poems that traverses subject areas including Philosophy, Change, Love, Human Nature, Sexuality and Abstractness.

If you follow the poetry scene in Ghana, you should by now have come the poet Nana Asaase. He is the man behind Asaase Inscriptions and the literary workshop, Creative in His Presence. We reported on it here.

On 17 August, the second edition of Mental Pictures, which is being called Writer Erections, will come off at the College of Surgeons and Physicians, Ridge. The event starts at 6PM. Fee for this event is GhC20

Finally on 31 August, the powerful poetry gathering, ALEWA, comes off at the Grand Mensvic Hotel at East Legon, from 6.30PM.

We cannot tell for sure why the event moved from its location at Sytris Osu. However, Mensvic is not a bad location for a fee of GhC20

Do let us know if you make it to any of these programmes.
